New Card Layouts

Hello everyone, hope your weather is as good as ours has been this last few days, I think Spring has finally arrived, and now we've put the clocks forward an hour today seems to have lasted forever, it's been lovely.. well know, a couple of weeks ago I bought some new card stock - wasn't sure what I was going to do with it at the time, but I liked the shape, plus, there was a bonus with them, some lovely oval cut out shapes. Here is a pic of my first two, simple and fairly plain, but I think there's enough on them and I liked the soft colours, plus, my lovely new butterflies from Inkadinkadoo look pretty peeping from behind the cut-out front flap - let me know what you think please xx

Busy, Busy Busy ~~~~~

What a few weeks of ups and downs - I have had to escape (if that's the right phrase) into my tiny craft room to get away from heartache and aches and pains - friends developing cancer and having chemo and all sorts of awful things happening in my life at the moment, so its been a few weeks where I have poured my heart into my crafting, just to get away from the real world for a while - does that sound really awful of me? plus I have had an abcess under a tooth which gave me a jawline like Rocky Marciano's duh .......getting over my part of it now, its just the cancer thing that is so awful because the lady concerned is such a gentle, hardworking soul who never did a bad turn to anyone in her life - so cruel and wicked for it to happen to her ......
Anyway, on a lighter note, some of my cards have been sent out for birthdays, or sent off to our troops overseas, but here is a random selection of ones I have left, the cream card with gold embossing on it (a new Inkadinkadoo stamp) is for a 90th birthday, hope you like them. I also had a serious parcel of goodies from a lovely, lovely lady in USA so some of my cards are using her stamps - where would I be without Carol (follow her blog on the left) Sue (follow her blog on the left too) and my lovely, so kind friends and acquaintances who help by donating goodies for me to use in my charity work, thank you all so much mwahhhh !!!! Now the cards dah dahhh......
The two Wisteria cards are a Spellbinders die - it also cuts out the two individual flowers - I am in love !!! I used a purple and green flower paper to Papermania paper to cut this die from ..... and sprayed one card with Tattered Angels glimmer mists ....
the Happy Birthday daisy card is cut with a Martha Stewart punch ....
the Butterfly is die cut from the card, and colour chalked on - its a Cuttlebug die ..
the top image is the inside of the card ....with mygorgeous fav. Inkadinkadoo stamp again :-)
Guess what - my butterfly stamp again - embossed this time with sparkly gold EP
- this is for my cousin's 90th birthday - I shall just add a small word stamp, something like Have a Special Day, underneath the butterfly, because she doesn't want a 90 anywhere on any card she receives teehee.......
sorry my cards are posted in reverse order, hope you enjoy xx

Jake's Card

I made this card using a lovely die cut decoupage car from a pack of stuff for making up to 5 cards, including the backing papers (a strip of which I cut off to use across the centre of my card, I think the young man will love his card :-) - well I hope he will anyway. I put his name on the front grill ....

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Hello everyone,
I am so sorry I have neglected my blog this last year, and I do thank you all for your patience and for calling in on me when you can. Hubby is now fully recovered as is Alex the woofer so this year is going to be 100% positive and I am back to making as many cards as I can for my armed forces lads and lasses ..

Incidentally, I had a light bulb idea these last few days for using up left over Christmas Pudding or stale cake -- crumble it - and mix with melted chocolate - I used half a large bar. Set aside in the fridge until it is very hard but can still be moulded and then make lots of tiny balls of the mix, dip it once more into melted chocolate and place on non-stick parchment to set. Put it back in the fridge to set really hard and then put the little balls into tiny paper cases and voila - home made truffles - and very tasty ones too - try it ladies :-) xx

Christmas Starts Here..

Thank you for your lovely comments and wishes, I think we are on the mend now, hubby and dog - so I am able now to concentrate on my soldiers cards, the cut-off point is the end of September, so i have a lot of work to do between now and then, plus it is my DIL's birthday at the same time,  so I am looking for ideas for a minimalist card that oozes style for her - all thoughts, ideas and brain cells gratefully received :-)  ...

In the meantime, here are three of my cards .....    the images  are - reindeer is Kanban and the other two are American - I love the bright colours :-)

Back at Last ....

Well, what to say after all this time. I spend so much time on Facebook now in the evenings, and crafting during the day that real life is sometimes beginning to be a nuisance that gets in the way of everything I want to do, but feel guilty about doing - when I think about it, which isn't very often. Here is another reason for my absence - this old boy was attacked by a Japanese Akita (dunno how to spell it but its a huge fighting dog - super aggressive) and in hauling this creature off our lovely dog, my hubby was taken seriously ill - so now, hubby is better, dog is better, I can relax .......
I would also like to thank all of you lovely people who left kind comments, I don't often say so, but thank you so much, I really appreciate your thoughts - and I need your prayers too at the moment, just to make sure everything keeps on track xx

TMTA - Feel Like a Queen

Bit late in the week for this one, but nevertheless I shall enter it. I don't have any queenish stamps, but found some tiny crowns in my embellishment box - thought these would be just perfect for this challenge - but since finding them, the whole reason why I dug into my box went right out of my head - ho hum - the joys of getting old :-)
The link to this lovely challenge site is down on the left hand side of my blog - pop along and see the delicious ATC's :-)

Male and Female Birthday cards...

The card is one of a set of 5 I bought from Dawn Bibby's Topaz Crafts a few years ago in a sale, you know, the sort of impulse buy that you can't live without. Well, they sat in a draw for ages, simply because of the chopped off shape of the front of the card ... and then hubby bought me an Imagina stamp (because he liked a demo card in a shop) and so I ferretted out the cards, thought hmmmm and stamped my chic lady on a piece of card, layered a gold card behind and finished her off with three tiny heart stick on gems ........ hope you like :-)

This is a birthday card made for a special person, I used his birthday month and name as background words, and think it works quite well, because he is an unfussy person.....

Something a bit different ..

I had a pack of black cards that I bought a while ago on a whim - just loved them, but somehow they never seemed right to use, until I received a gorgeous CHRISTMAS card printed on black card and I thought ooooooo well - let's go for it, so I did - here is the result !!

HAPPY NEW YEAR ..

Wow, it's been 6 months since I posted anything, so first of all, I wish for you and your families and friends, Health, Wealth and Happiness in abundance for 2011.
I can't say I've been too busy to come on here, but in my own defence I found out about a stalker on here, who is an undesirable in my family life and so it's put me off blogging because I don't know how to get rid of that person... that being said, I feel I am bigger than they are, and will start a new blog very soon with photo's that I find precious and would love to shout from the rooftops about and share with a select few of my internet friends -- that way nobody can log in unless invited ...
The photo is two friends and my hubby enjoying a meal at Christmas a couple of years ago, I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and Santa bought loads of lovelies for you xxx

Rainy days mean Summer is here at last .

First I must say thank you to Lyn - thanks for the nudge sweetheart, I have let too much time lapse between posts and I appreciate your emails xx Secondly, what have I been up to, well, we've been on holiday, over to Southern Ireland again, I have been doing a lot of baking - at our time of life when we should be cutting down on everything - you know, less activity etc .....but you see, because of my pain I can't exercise much so all gentle exercise helps enormously, and a lump of bread dough is a wonderful way to exercise my shoulders and upper arms gently - that's what I have been doing, baking pies, bread, cakes - all fattening, lard on the thighs inducing but lubberly goodies heehee ..

I have also, for a change, been making cards - I had some more goodies from the lovely Sue (link on the left) so I have been using them for all my 'soldiers' cards and I made these three 'specials' for my aunt, so I thought I would share them.
Finally, thank you to everyone who has left a message, I will get round to all your blogs over the next few days, promise..

More cards from Bad Penny days

I am posting these cards to show appreciation to the wonderful ladies who send me goodies to use for my cards and for myself, can't say a big enough THANK YOU to you for your help xxx Sue, Nancy and Carol - luvs ya loads xxx

Like the proverbial Bad Penny - I turned up again :-)

I really don't know where the hours and days and weeks go, they just fly past in a haze of all the things I do, and a lot more things that I should do, but never get round to doing, like putting cards on my blog for instance.. I have so many 'outlets' now, for my cards, charity outlets that is, that I am spoilt for choice and just can't get the amount done that I would like to, simply because time and health and normal living quite often get in the way... I send cards to a distribution centre for our soldiers overseas, to a veterans hospital in USA, to a Navy post in Portugal, to a couple of local childrens cancer respite home charities and am now making some for a local animal welfare kennels, so life is good, and very, very full and I am happy - what more is there eh?
